(She/Her/Hers)
Welcome, I am Elaine! Congratulations on taking a step towards your healing. I know how important it is to find someone with whom you feel safe and can guide you in meeting your goals. So thank you for your interest in me as your potential therapist.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and graduated with my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California in 2011. I have over a decade of experience in community health, community mental health, and hospice.
My counseling approach is warm, non-judgmental, and empowering. I aim to provide a safe space where you can be authentic without judgement or pressure to please. I believe each person is the expert of their own life and I am here to listen and learn about you. My role in therapy is a collaborator.
Some modalities I may use in your therapeutic sessions include mindfulness activities, cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, family-of-origin lens, attachment theory, cognitive processing therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and solution focused therapy. Each person is uniquely individual and I will use approaches that are best suited for you.
I am Chinese, born and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California. I have also lived in Toronto, Canada before settling in Austin, Texas. My upbringing and experiences inform my appreciation of different cultures. I also speak Cantonese (advanced) and Mandarin (intermediate). In my personal time, I enjoy nature, hiking, fitness, and finding good food both at restaurants and in my kitchen.
